What Solo Moms Actually Want for Mother’s Day (And It’s Not Just Gifts)
Hey boo thangs,
Let’s go ahead and clear something up before the flowers start flying and the brunch reservations get posted…
Solo moms don’t want the same surface-level stuff every year.
Yes, gifts are cute.
But what we actually want?
It hits a little deeper than that.
1. A Full Day Off (Not a “Little Break”)
Not help. Not assistance. Not “I got him for a few hours.”
A full day off.
No responsibilities. No decisions. No mental checklist running in the background.
Just one day where everything does not fall on us.
2. Appreciation Without Having to Ask for It
We don’t want to hint.
We don’t want to bring it up.
We don’t want to remind anybody what we do.
We want to be appreciated because it’s noticed… not because we asked for it.
That’s the difference.
3. Time to Be a Woman—Not Just “Mom”
We love our kids. Down.
But we are still women outside of motherhood.
We want time where we’re not being called, needed, touched, or depended on.
Time to feel like ourselves again—without the title attached to every second.
4. A Spa Day That Actually Lasts All Day
Not a quick appointment squeezed between responsibilities.
We’re talking full experience:
Massage.
Facial.
Quiet.
Phone on silent.
No rushing back to pick up, cook, clean, or manage anything.
Let us stay in the softness for once.
5. For People to Stop Underestimating What We Do
This one?
Yeah… it’s personal.
Solo moms are doing the work of multiple people every single day.
So no, it’s not “just” taking care of a child.
No, it’s not “easy” because we make it look smooth.
We want real acknowledgment that what we carry is heavy—and we carry it anyway.
It’s Bigger Than Gifts
Because at the end of the day…
Most solo moms can buy their own gifts.
What we want is to feel:
Seen.
Valued.
Respected.
And supported in ways that actually make a difference.
So this Mother’s Day?
If you’re going to show up for a solo mom…
Make it count.
Not louder.
Just realer.
Happy Mother’s Day to the women doing it all—with no backup and no shortcuts.
And still making it look like it’s light work.
(We know it’s not.)
