Let’s go ahead and dead that myth real quick—cuffing season isn’t just for fall. Who said we had to wait until pumpkin spice lattes and fuzzy socks to lock in a little romance?
Summer is where the magic (and the melanin) be popping—and baby, us solo moms are the main characters.
Now I know you’re thinking:
“Girl, between camps, kids, and cookouts, who has time to be boo’d up?”
But hear me out—summer is actually the best time to date as a solo mom. Here’s why:
1. Everybody’s Outside—Including the Grown Men
From rooftop happy hours to neighborhood cookouts, the streets are alive and the eye candy is plentiful. And nothing makes me feel more confident than stepping out with that new summer glow and getting a little attention I didn’t have to chase.
2. No Heavy Expectations, Just Good Vibes
Summer romance hits different. You’re not cuffing someone for Christmas gifts or Valentine’s plans. You’re connecting over cocktails, sun-kissed skin, and spontaneous conversations. There’s freedom in that. You can flirt without pressure, date without deadlines, and enjoy the moment.
3. Built-In Babysitter Swaps & Sleepovers
With school out and playdates on rotation, there’s more flexibility in your schedule. You might finally be able to take that brunch date or moonlit walk without feeling guilty. And if the kids are away with family for a weekend? Girl, that’s your window. Use it.
4. You’re Glowing Differently This Season
After holding it down all year—balancing work, motherhood, healing, and hustle—summer is your reward. You’re walking into your soft era. Your healed era. Your “don’t come for me unless you come correct” era. That kind of energy? It’s attractive. Don’t be surprised if somebody’s grown son… Or daddy, notices.
5. Because You Deserve a Lil’ Fun Too
Let’s not forget: moms need joy. Moms need romance. Moms need that “I’m on my way” kind of attention too. It doesn’t have to be forever, but it can still be fulfilling. And don’t let anyone guilt you into thinking otherwise.
So go ahead, mama.
Put on that sundress. Re-download that dating app. Yes, I said it! Smile at that man at the gas station (the one with all his teeth; not the other one). Be open to love, laughter, or just some grown-up convo that doesn’t involve Paw Patrol.
Cuffing season is whenever you say it is. And summer might just be the perfect time to remind yourself that you’re not just a mom… you’re a whole vibe.
Tag a solo mom who deserves some summer loving. Let her know she’s not crazy for wanting connection and freedom. You can have both.
Love, light, & cuffed up
