Soooo the original 75 Hard Challenge was clearly made for folks with personal chefs, live-in nannies, and 27 hours in their day. Two workouts a day? A gallon of water? Reading non-fiction and taking progress pics every day? Chiiiilleeee. As a solo mom, just getting my child out the door without losing my mind is a challenge on its own.
But I wanted to do something. Something that would push me without punishing me. Something that felt like discipline and not death. 😩
So I’ve created my own version of 75 Hard— Solo Mom Style.
So What Is 75 Hard?
The original 75 Hard is a mental toughness challenge created by Andy Frisella. It’s not necessarily about weight loss as it is about discipline. The challenge includes:
2 workouts a day (one must be outdoors)
Follow a diet (no cheat meals)
Drink a gallon of water (err’yday!)
No alcohol
Read 10 pages of non-fiction daily
Take a daily progress photo
And the challenge is to perform these tasks daily for 75 days straight with no breaks or days off.
Admirable? Yes. Realistic for a single mama with a rambunctious 5 year old, a hectic work schedule, and a prayer life? Absolutely not.
So I remixed it. And I’m inviting YOU to do it with me.
The Solo Mom 75 Hard (aka 75 Intentional)
Here’s how I tweaked it to feel doable and still transformational:
1. Move Your Body Once a Day for AT LEAST 30 Mins
Listen, chasing these kids counts. Whether it’s a walk, stretching, dancing while cleaning, or an actual workout—you moved! Check!
2. Follow a Nourishing Routine (Not a Restrictive Diet)
No crash diets over here. For me, that means cutting back on fast food, cooking more at home, and drinking less energy drinks. Do what feels good for your body, not what Instagram says is “right.”
3. Drink Half Your Body Weight in Water (In Ounces)
A full gallon is cute, but I’m not trying to be in the bathroom every 12 minutes while at work. If yall knew how long it takes female police officers to get undressed JUST to pee…. Honey!
So adjust it to your needs and aim to stay hydrated daily.
4. Read or Listen to 10 Minutes of Something That Grows You
Could be a podcast, an audiobook, a devotional, or actual pages. The goal is simple: feed your mind daily. I’m not going to lie, YouTube has a lot of inspirational gems. In fact, I listen to my daily devotional on there and it’s a great way I start my day.
5. Do a Daily “Check-In”
Forget body progress, this is about mood, energy, and presence. Look at yourself in the mirror and ask, “How am I really doing?”
Bonus: Take a daily picture or even journal. This way you’ll have 75 days of receipts showing how much mentally stronger you’ve become.
Wanna Do It With Me?
No pressure to be perfect. No judgment if you miss a day. Just a soft but consistent commitment to YOU—for 75 days.
