Okay, so let’s talk about the Cartoon Network Hotel in Lancaster, PA. Because baby, I had alllll the mixed feelings before booking this trip. The reviews online were all over the place—some folks loved it, others said “run.” So I was def side-eyeing my reservation the entire time, hoping I hadn’t made a mistake.
But I also knew my son would be hyped, and since it’s literally steps away from Dutch Wonderland, I figured we’d say a big prayer and give it a shot.
First Impressions: Bright, Bold, and Straight Outta Cartoon Land
From the moment we pulled up, the vibe was giving Saturday morning cartoons with a splash of childhood nostalgia. The colors were bright, the decor was super on brand, and my little one’s face lit up like a Christmas tree. That alone made me feel like okay, we’re off to a good start.
The Room: Think Upgraded Motel, Not Luxury Hotel
I’m going to keep it real: the rooms weren’t luxurious. They had more of an upgraded motel feel than a hotel. I totally get why some folks would raise an eyebrow, especially considering the price (we’ll get into that in a minute). But honestly? I still thought the room was cute, colorful, and perfectly fine for a kid-focused trip.
Now, I did see a few reviews complaining about cleanliness, but our room was very clean when we arrived. And if you know me, you know I clean every hotel room anyway, 5-star or not. Trust me, I’ve stayed at luxury hotels that had me reaching for my disinfectant wipes. Sometimes it’s less about the type of hotel and more about my OCD. Lol! But we had no complaints.
The Staff: 10/10, No Notes
Now THIS is where they really shined. The staff at the Cartoon Network Hotel? So friendly, so accommodating, and just genuinely nice. Like real “we want you to have a good time” energy, not that fake forced customer service smile. They were the highlight for me, hands down. Especially the characters!
Activities & Amenities: Kid-Approved Fun
The pool, splash pad, game room, crafts—all of it was a hit with my little one. It’s definitely a kid-centric place, and they do a great job making it fun and interactive. You’re not going there to lounge around in spa robes—you’re going for the arcade, swimsuits, and screen-time characters come to life.
The BEST Part: Dutch Wonderland Access
Now, this right here? Major perk. The hotel is literally in the next parking lot over from Dutch Wonderland. We walked over like it was nothing. Even better? As hotel guests, we got early access to the park and were able to skip the regular lines like we were somebody! My son was living his best VIP life, and I was loving the ease of it all.
Now Let’s Talk Money…
Chiiiiiillleee…. The only real downside for me was the price. The rooms range anywhere from $250 to $400 a night! And for what you get, that’s a little steep. Especially if you’re expecting a more typical hotel experience. You’re really paying for the experience of the Cartoon Network brand and proximity to Dutch Wonderland—not luxury.
Final Verdict?
If you go into it knowing it’s a fun, themed experience for kids (and not a luxury escape for mom), you’ll enjoy it. Would I go back? Honestly, yes. My child had a ball, the staff was amazing, and it made our Dutch Wonderland trip that much easier. Just be sure to catch a sale if you can, because them nightly rates don’t play chile!
I appreciate the honest review because I also saw mixed reviews about the hotel and have been on the fence about planning a trip. Did you all have to pay to go to Dutch Wonderlamd separately or was that included since you were guests at the CN hotel? I always see deals for that theme park on Groupon so I’m wondering before I book the trip. Thanks!
